Book release: Ski Bum

We were excited in the 1964 office recently to receive some promotional material from Sam Masters, former editor of Powderhound and author of The Story of New Zealand Freeskiing about a new book: Ski Bum.

Along with a curated collection of the world’s best ski photography, Sam promises “shocking tales from the interplanetary snow bohemians and dedicated powder fiends propping up the bar in your local ski resort”, and from what we’ve seen so far, the book nails it. We previewed one piece that chronicles the “sexual agar plate of global contagion” that is your average ski town (been there, still have the hangover), while another cautionary tale looks at the impact of parenting on the ski bum lifestyle. “Don’t be that couple who trades a quickish honeymoon knee-trembler for 18 years of curtailed powder skiing.” Thanks for the tip, Sam.
